Eurocup 2009-10

Power Electronics Valencia reached Vitoria after overcoming a tough qualifying game against Dexia Mons but proving themselves a team to be reckoned with in the group stages. Victory over Aris Thessaloniki in the quarterfinals secured their ticket to the Eurocup Finals. There, Neven Spahija's team's performance was unsurpassed, defeating Greek side Panellinios in the semifinals with a three-point exhibition. In the final, a dunk by Víctor Claver opened a game played with extraordinary defensive intensity. The Valencian team held the German team to 44 points, allowing them to score a quarter-high 12. Australian Matt Nielsen emerged as the face of victory, earning the MVP award after his brilliant weekend. The image of a close-knit and happy group carried over to the celebrations both in Vitoria, with nearly 2,000 Valencians, and to the streets of Valencia the following day. For the second year, they secured their place in the Euroleague.
